Comment-to-DM on Instagram, without a Facebook Page.
Most tools ask you to link a Facebook Page before they will send a single DM. PigeonDM does not: it runs on the version of Meta’s API that works through Instagram’s own login. A Business or Creator account is enough.
Why so many tools want a Facebook Page
Meta gives an app two ways to work with an Instagram account. The older one goes through Facebook Login and a Facebook Page linked to the account. The newer one goes through Instagram’s own login, and Meta’s documentation says it does not require a Facebook Page linked to the professional account. PigeonDM uses the second one.
What you need is an Instagram professional account, Business or Creator. If yours is still a personal account, Instagram switches it in a minute from your profile settings, free of charge.
You never type your Instagram password on PigeonDM. Instagram asks for it on its own page, then sends you back with permission to read your posts and comments and to send DMs for that account, which is what it needs to do its job.
How it works, Page or no Page
- 1
Connect with Instagram
Log in on Instagram’s page, pick the professional account, and you are back on PigeonDM. No Page, no Business Suite.
- 2
Pick a word and your links
Choose the post, the word people comment, like LINK, and paste the links to send.
- 3
They get the DM
Someone comments your word, PigeonDM sends your links in a DM in under a minute and leaves a public reply under their comment, so they know to check their inbox.
What about Meta’s own free automation?
Meta Business Suite has inbox automations, and they are free. Meta’s own help page says the comment reply one answers comments that contain specific hashtags, and that it is only available in Business Suite on a computer. PigeonDM listens for a plain word rather than a hashtag, works from a phone as well as a computer, and keeps a log of every comment it answered and every one it could not.
